About Stay in Japan

Our Mission

We help travelers find their perfect accommodation in Japan — from world-class hotels to authentic ryokans with onsen.

What We Do

We curate and showcase hotels, ryokans, guesthouses, and unique stays across Japan. Each listing includes detailed information about amenities, atmosphere, and insider tips.

Coverage

Our database covers accommodations across all 47 prefectures of Japan, from major cities to hidden countryside gems.

How It Works

We research accommodations across Japan with a focus on properties that offer distinctive experiences or exceptional value. Each listing includes accommodation type, price range, amenities (WiFi, onsen, workspace, English-speaking staff), location details, and what makes each property special. We verify information through official booking platforms, property websites, and traveler feedback. Our database covers everything from luxury resort hotels and centuries-old ryokans to modern hostels and cozy guesthouses — filterable by type, amenities, area, and budget.

Why We Built This

Choosing the right accommodation in Japan can make or break your trip. A night in a traditional ryokan with kaiseki dinner is a cultural experience in itself, while a well-located business hotel can save hours of travel time. But comparing options across Japanese booking sites, deciphering amenity descriptions, and finding properties that welcome international guests isn't easy. Stay in Japan was built to simplify this process — presenting curated accommodation options with the details international travelers actually need.

Community

The accommodation landscape changes constantly — new properties open, amenities are updated, and pricing shifts with the seasons. If you've stayed somewhere wonderful that we haven't listed, or notice outdated information about a property, please let us know. Traveler feedback is essential to keeping our recommendations current and trustworthy.

How we review stays

Stay in Japan is not trying to mirror every OTA listing. We focus on the details travelers actually use to compare a ryokan, hotel, guesthouse, or hostel: verified amenity information, area context, and the kind of stay each property is best suited for. When owners or travelers flag changes, those listings are reviewed first.

  • We prioritize decision-making details such as onsen access, Wi-Fi quality, workspace readiness, and English support.
  • We add context instead of copying raw inventory or booking snippets from OTAs.
  • Corrections from property owners and travelers feed directly into our next review cycle.
